Short biography

In 1992, P-27 released «Murder by Dialect» feat. Black Tiger on the Swiss rap compilation «Fresh Stuff 2» which made them the first band to put out a track with raps in Swiss-German. Thanks to a regular airplay on Swiss Radio DRS 3, the sentence «y bin e Schpräyer, und y schpräy won y will» was copied and heard all over Switzerland. In the same year, P-27 released their first album «Overdose Funk» (Phonag) and the single «Summerzytt». With their debut, they made it to position 8 in the Swiss-LP-Charts. Only two years later, P-27 released their 2nd album «Jetzt funkt's aa» (EMI Switzerland), from which the singles «Run Baby Run!» (feat. Coroner) and «Jetzt funkt's aa» were taken.

With their particular mixture of rap, funk, jazz, rock and hip hop they set a new standard for Swiss rap crews. As support acts of e.g. Guru (Gang Starr / NY / R.I.P.), Urban Species (GB), IAM (F) and Sens Unik (CH), they heated up the crowd and proved their international quality. With their cheeky live shows rich in variety they blossomed out to one of the most interesting Switzerland's live acts, still being on tour throughout various open airs, festivals and indoor stages throughout Switzerland during 3 years after the release of their album. The album again reached a top ten position in the Swiss Charts, the single «Run Baby Run» (feat. Coroner) almost rocked it to the top and the related videoclip was broadcasted several times on Swiss TV.National and international media indicated active interest for the band. TV and radio teams were present at their gigs and transmitted live on the air. Reports of P-27 had been broadcasted a.o. on S-PLUS, SF DRS, SAT.1 and PRO7.

The band then retired after a long period of presence in the CH-music scene. During this time each band member followed their own other projects. Tron was working with «Chapter 12» as MC and DJ, Chyle was playing with Thomas Moeckl, Matt was playing with «Chapter 12», Eddie Floyd and William Bell. Skelt!, at that time president of «Bee4Real» an association for new artistical collaboration in Basle, brought out the first swiss Hip Hop theater piece «Gleis X» (directed by Tom Ryser) in his functions as author, producer and actor, was touring with «Skeltigeron» and engaged in other projects. DJ Drozt was working as engineer and DJ with «Skeltigeron» (Skelt!, Black Tiger and MC Rony) and involved in «Gleis X» as DJ. At that time a lot of new songs emerged, despite all band member's project activities. The pre-production of the new songs took place in their own studios. Therefore it was decided to produce and record the new tracks at the YellowRoom and S.K.E.L.T.!-Studio. The experiences which were made during the first two album became symbionts so that the songs evolved in a new direction.

1999 P-27 released their third album «Dr einzig Wäg» (MUVE Recordings) and the maxi single «Ohre». At that time the band consisted of the two MC's Skelt & Tron as well as DJ Drozt supported live by Matthias Brodbeck (Drums) and Michael Chylewski (Bass).

Skelt! (Vocals) & Tron (Vocals & Scratches) open up their new EP «Pumpin' Daze» with «Here We Go!» and draw a bow on their now 20-year old band history to its beginnings. The CD is the first release on the in-house label «TwentySeven Records».

2009. P-27 present on their 4th album «Special» (TwentySeven Records/Nation Biztribution) 15 gold pieces out of their treasure chest. The Rhine Pirates give full scope from funky oldschool vibez over powertunes to sugar sweet ballads. Singing about love, obsession, joy of living, wishfulness and heroism. Songs like «Jazz Ting» and «Ride On» are fully dedicated to the Jazz and with «Spy vs Spy» virtual agents are let loose chasing and clashing. «Wolggeschiff» invites you to float in airy heights, «I Need Love» turns LL Cool J's ballad into a disco stomper and «Mir Wänn Euch Ghöre», is Funk, is Groove, is P-27!

Besides Luana the First Lady of Swiss Hip Hop and the versatile guitarist Magor «Burning Slide» Szilagyi («Mojo Swamp») some of the former band members members as well as other «Special» guests are featured.

«Special» is an affectionate, ironic homage to the radio, to music and to life, a fast-paced roller coaster ride through the intergalactic worlds of P-27. The curtain rises for Rhine pirates, secret agents, disco wigs and rapper hearts in need of affection. Curtain up for P-27 and «Special»!
